Press & peers

“Smart, weird, and genuinely unpredictable. Caleb Zeringue is doing something fresh and it shows.”

Lady Bushra, shortlisted BBC Comic

“Comedy doesn’t mean lighthearted. Comedy is often used to explore the hardest things in life.”

BroadwayWorld

“Why should Saturday Night Live and South Park get all the ability to process these current events? Why can’t live theater musicals do that as well?”

BroadwayWorld

“Just because something’s funny, doesn’t mean it’s not serious.”

About me

Caleb Zeringue (like Meringue but with a Z, no relation) is a queer stand-up comic, writer, actor, and producer with a national profile and a “big personality” reputation to match.

He’s the co-writer of Luigi: The Musical, the viral sensation covered by the New York Times, NPR, and the Washington Post, and co-writer of The Drill Master with Jenny Zigrino, which had its first reading at The Eagle in San Francisco and a staged reading at The Elysian in LA.

Selected credits: NYC Queer Comedy Festival finalist. Edinburgh Fringe. Vice City Comedy Festival. LGBTLolFest. Featured with Jenny Zigrino and opened for Lady Bushra. Performed at Cobb’s, The Stand, Gotham, Hollywood Improv, and The Elysian.

Caleb grew up across 16 states, which is the polite way to say his comedic voice is unmistakable: unapologetically queer, suspiciously emotionally vulnerable, with a “bless your heart” southern undercurrent and news-literate punchlines that land with smart, mixed, and tech-forward crowds. Bookers hire him for pride shows, festival lineups, corporate nights, and rooms that want a headliner who’s funny, current, and impossible to mistake for anyone else.

He recently discovered that Type B personalities exist, which, let’s be honest, is a very Type A thing to do.

About my work

Caleb builds comedy that travels. Luigi: The Musical sold out 13 shows and is in development for off-Broadway. He co-wrote The Drill Master with Jenny Zigrino, staged right before Netflix Is a Joke with Bobcat Goldthwait, Gianmarco Soresi, Cameron Esposito, and more. He creates things that break through.
